MAUMEE, Ohio - Christopher James Lark, 48, of Maumee, formerly of Ida, died Tuesday in his home, following a long illness.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, Sylvania Township, Ohio, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Born Nov. 22, 1958, in Detroit, he was the son of Dr. Lawrence and Barbara Lark. He married Phyllis Montri 25 years ago.
A teacher, he began his career with the Monroe County Intermediate School District. He also taught for at Toledo Public Schools' Washington Elementary; Bittersweet Farms in Whitehouse, Ohio; Holiday Camp in Grape; Lark Lane School in Lucas County, Ohio, and Wood Lane School in Wood County, Ohio.
Later, he worked for several industrial sales and service companies, including Newasteconcepts, QED Environmental Systems, Monroe Rubber and Plastic Supply Co. and Hyblow USA.
Mr. Lark lived in Ida and graduated in 1977 from Ida Public Schools, where he played football, baseball and golf, and was Student Council president. He earned a bachelor of science degree in special education in 1982 from Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti. He enjoyed designing and building furniture, wooden jewelry boxes and kaleidoscopes. He also enjoyed sailing and, for 35 years, sailed with the North Cape Yacht Club of LaSalle, where he was vice commodore. He competed in more than 15 Port Huron-Mackinac sailboat races, winning three.
Surviving are his wife; his parents of The Villages, Fla., formerly of Ida; a son, Adam; a daughter Elise; five brothers, Jeffrey (Donna) of Ida, Matthew (Brigid) of Sylvania, Ohio, John (Claudia) of Adrian, Thomas (Christine) of Boise, Idaho, and Joseph (Leslie) of Monroe, and a sister, Jeanne (Jim) Baer of Dearborn
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo and Perrysburg, Ohio.
