Ida girls run to first

IDA - The Ida girls cross country team won Wednesday's Hillsdale Invitational with 48 points, beating out second-place Hillsdale (43).
Ida's Jaimie Sawasky was second overall (20:55), Sarena Anderson third (21:15), Margaret Gruber 10th, Melanie Iocoangeli 12th and Jaclyn Sawasky 27th.
The Blue Streaks were fifth with 107 points in the boys meet. Jake Parker finished 13th (19:02) and Daniel Cervolo 16th.

Ida wins opener
IDA - Ida opened its season with a 25-17, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory over Tecumseh Wednesday in coach Bree Hickman's debut.
Ashley Begeman (40 assists, 14 digs), Kari Honomichl (22 kills, 27 digs) and Suzanne Taylor (19 digs) played well.
Ida swept the JV match 25-11, 25-15 behind Aryn Brower, Kaitlyn Hoppert-Fox, Ericka Lehr, Erin Mayes, Rachel Swanson and Molly Daniels.
